"Maximum Security" is Alien Sex Fiend's third studio album and the first as a 3 piece after the departure of drummer Johnnie Ha Ha. A self-produced album, it is more experimental with an increased use of keyboards, effects, and a new heavy beat box. It truly established Alien Sex Fiend's position in the outer limits and provided them with the launch pad for all that they would subsequently achieve. "Maximum Security" features 10 tracks, including the Indie top 10 single "I'm Doing Time In A Maximum Security Twilight Home" which is surely a contender for the longest single title in history! Originally released in a gatefold sleeve, with a band photo by Patrick Gilbert (RIP) on the front and, at first, in a matte cardboard sleeve, later copies had a glossy sleeve. Some copies were available as a limited edition on blood red vinyl. The CD re-issue in 1986 was billed as The First Alien Sex Fiend CD and this included 4 bonus tracks not on the original vinyl release.
Trainspotter corner : During one of a number of visits to Nik & Mrs Fiend's South London abode, a young police officer confessed he rather enjoyed festival duties as he got to see all the bands for free. He eventually departed clutching a poster for the Maximum Security album which took pride of place in the canteen at the local police station!
