The new CD from pop music master Dwight Twilley, featuring special guests Susan Cowsill and Rocky Burnette, plus original Dwight Twilley Band guitarist Bill Pitcock IV. Recorded at his Big Oak Studio in Tulsa, Green Blimp captures Twilley at his absolute best, creating 12 magical pop music song gems with a unique production style combining his Beatles influences with early Sun Records roots rock n roll. In addition to the CD version, the new album will also be issued on vinyl. Spotlighted tracks include the hard driving opening track, Get Up, the melodic harmony-filled Me and Melanie and the haunting ballad, Let It Rain. Tulsa native Dwight Twilley got his start in the early 1970s when he and his friend/partner the late Phil Seymour journeyed to the legendary Sun Studio in Memphis and soaked up the essence of rock n roll and production techniques from early Sun Records artist/producer Ray Harris. Armed with that knowledge, The Dwight Twilley Band was formed and launched their first top 20 hit, the classic I'm on Fire, in 1975. The San Francisco Chronicle called it the best debut single by an American rock band ever, and Twilley was on his way. More landmark albums followed, including Sincerely in 1976 and Twilley Don't Mind in 1977. After Seymour left the band in 1977, Twilley continued to release more iconic albums, including Twilley in 1979, Scuba Divers in 1982 and Jungle in 1984, which yielded the top 20 single, Girls, and its accompanying smash MTV video. After a series of label miscues, Twilley returned to the spotlight when his song, Why You Wanna Break My Heart, emerged from the platinum-selling Wayne's World soundtrack. Since then, he's continued to record a number of critically-acclaimed albums and also authored the award-winning book, Questions from Dad.
